#2: Because You Need to Implement Better Processes

To deliver excellent work consistently, organizations often need clear processes. And while it’s important for everyone to follow them, someone has to have the skills to develop the processes and get everyone to buy into them. Laura has all of those skills.

A couple of years ago, we had a major transition in the way that we did work for our biggest client. This large IT company had implemented a new system for producing collateral and web content. On our end, it impacted the entire process—from the information we collected on kickoff calls with the client through every draft, and from writers to editors to account service staff to production artists.

Laura took the reigns. She developed incredible process documents that helped people inside and outside the agency (including freelance writers) understand how to tackle these new projects. She led meetings to refine the processes and make sure that they worked well for everyone. And she helped train those who came onto the account later.

Those are the kind of management skills and commitment to doing good work in a repeatable fashion that make me think that Laura’s more than just a great writer. If you want someone who can help you develop and implement strong processes, check out Laura’s LinkedIn profile, download her portfolio (PDF) and e-mail 32reasons@gmail.com.
