#15: Because You Want to Address Problems Proactively

“Proactive” is one of those business buzzwords that is much more easily (and much more frequently) said than done. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a legitimate goal for your organization—if you have the people to help you reach it.

Laura helps the teams that she works for be proactive because she can:

  • Identify potential problems early.
  • Develop good solutions.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to implement the solutions—sometimes, before people outside the team even realize that there was an issue.

Once, our team instituted a signficant change in our standard workflow for all projects. Within a week, Laura realized that while the new process worked well for most of our clients, there was one account—one that she had seldom worked on in the past—where the new process introduced potential problems. She alerted the people in charge of the account about the issue and at the same time provided several suggestions about how to adjust the process to avoid any future problems. By the time the client noticed the change, we were well on our way to implementing the fixes.

If you want someone who has the ability to analyze conditions and the confidence to act quickly that are required to be truly proactive, check out Laura’s LinkedIn profile, download her portfolio (PDF) and e-mail 32reasons@gmail.com.
